Result Driven!

I am not the smartest person in the world. That I will honestly admit.

I am also very stubborn and opinionated.

That is probably the biggest reason why I have been successful in this weight loss journey.

I am a results person. At work, at home, and on myself. It means nothing if I write or say something. It means everything if I do it!

I am not a fan of someone talking about IT! More about someone being about IT!

That is the whole purpose of my challenge, the Missouri 60.

I knew I could achieve the impossible, but did not know how. I would write down a goal, and would start it tomorrow.

Tomorrow never came.

So recently I have realized that today is a better day. I can do a lot of things today.

And with 60 today's, I can change my life!

I love doing this blog, but it would have no credibility if I did not have the pictures of my journey.

I see blogs with pictures of blogger's faces, foot, or leg. Yet, they do not show their transformation. They do not show where they started from, and where they are now.

With all that being said, the Missouri 60 is the easiest yet hardest challenge to do. Here is how you start.

1. You must take a picture! Getting on the scale or blogging about how you can do it means nothing. You need to stare at yourself and see where you are now.

Once you look at your picture, look deeper. Are you the person that makes excuses:

"I do not have time to work out!"
"My boss is out to get me!"
"My wife doesn't support me"

Once you are looking at your picture, think about how you want to change. Maybe you want to get a promotion, have a better marriage, lose weight, save money, etc.

2.Write down all of your goals, but keep them to yourself. Remember, this is about results.

3. Now, you have 60 days to change your life. This is a commitment you are making to yourself. For 60 days you will not make any excuses. No holidays, outings, fights, or economy will stop you from your goals.

4. Once you hit a goal on your list, share it with people. Maybe it was to lose 5 pounds, or go on a romantic dinner with spouse, or have the courage to pass on a piece of your Dad's cake. Remember, this is about "Showing" not about "Telling"! Put on those new pants and tell people you can wear them now, or show friends a business card with your new title on it.

5. After 60 days, take another picture. Compare the pictures. I guarantee you will see a difference. Maybe not in weight, but in yourself.

I have had 60 people say they liked this challenge and were interested. I think more will come. With the economy the way it is, people can not afford to go and get "Free KFC" or "Value Meals". People need to get healthy and feel good about themselves.
I am going to write a list of people who have entered, and if people take it seriously, I will come up with cool prizes. I already sent out a few promotion letters to some companies. We will see.

Basically, who can transform their life the most in 60 days?

In the meantime, take a picture, and ask yourself one question:

"Isn't it time to Show Me!!"

I'm in, though keeping my goals to myself is already proving hard :)

If you're so result-driven, what kind of result are you expecting from your constant fly-by posts on the Weight Watchers boards? All you do is come by, shout "LOOK AT ME! WOW! I'VE MAINTAINED 220 POUND LOSS FOR 5 MONTHS!" and then never respond to ANY comments people leave for you.

Yes, it's amazing to have maintained the loss. It's less amazing to be shouting about it like you were TWO WEEKS after making goal, as if maintaining the loss for two weeks were a big deal at all.

Come back in a year and shout all you want. Then we'll know what kind of success story you are -- because right now you're just a guy who lost a LOT of weight at an unhealthy rate. That's the reason WW won't give you the time of day, because your results are TOO "not typical" and they don't want to be liable for someone's medical bills for gallstones, et cetera, that came from losing weight at that rate.

where would you like us to send the photos (or do we just keep them for now?).

Tony - I have been reading your blog for a while, and I love your process, attitude towards life, and admire your dedication.

I feel gravitated towards this post! It's a challenge, and it's on!

I am currently trying to recover from anorexia nervosa and am having problems with self-sabotage, warped self-perceptions and negative thought-cycles but I want to get better.

So I am going to take a photo, and I want to look fuller and happier by the end of 60 days. This means meeting my calorie goals whilst exercising in moderation. I'm buying a mountain bike this week and in 60 days I want to have enough energy to ride it with my dad down the trails around our house. I want to eat my mum's cooking again. I don't want to have to take naps in the afternoon because I'm too tired to live life.

See you in 60 days, and apologies for the length of this comment, but thank you all the same!

I'm not participating in the challenge, but it'll be a wonderful thing for many people! I applaud you!
That anonymous comment above just infuriated me.
Like you, I have been on plan with consistent effort every single day of my journey thus far. I eat well and I exercise...And most importantly, I've made mental changes along the way that will keep me transformed for the rest of my life. I've lost 176 so far, still 99 to go...and I'm getting there.
To criticize someone for doing it right EVERYDAY, because in their opinion it came off too fast, is complete rubbish.
My weight loss journey has been approved by my doctors, a registered dietician, fitness coach, and a wellness expert...I have even spoken at weight loss motivational events for the hospital. That's how much they believe in me...SO, I'm suppose to feel bad for losing 176 pounds since September '08?
If someone is doing it in an unhealthy way (not eating-starving-fasting), then yes, I'm against that. But listen "anonymous comment leaver," You can't knock people like Tony and me. We're doing it minus the excuses and rationalizations that slow people down. We're doing it right EVERYDAY--despite what circumstances may come, and they do. So I suggest you go back and read the archives---every single post of Tony's and my blog---You'll learn some things.

Whew---Had to get that out...Sorry for the long comment Tony.

My best always,

Sean Anderson

A friend and myself are going to do this challenge! Me to the best extent that I can (I'm 10 weeks pregnant) but I have many other goals other than weight loss. Thank you for being such a huge inspiration =)

Again, I am in.

I agree with you. Taking pictures is a kick ass way to stay focused. I put some very unflattering semi nude pictures of my self on the right rail of my blog to remind myself every day I logged on what I was doing.

Surprisingly, I got an email from someone saying I was sexy. Not sure if it was a guy or girl but all is good. Truth is I always felt like I was sexy for a big man. But my diet is not about getting more sexy it is about being healthier.

I love you blog.
cheers

Sorry, by the way the anonymous poster above is a quite childish.

He or she is suffering from Tall Poppy Syndrome. Soft bigotry of low expectations is quite common today but don't let it get you down. Good on you for letting it stand. Kind of like shinning a light on a cockroach.

Tony, I like the challenge and think it's a good idea. I might take you up on it.

Something I want to say about the "anonymous" comment. I've noticed your fly-bys on the WW message boards. I really don't understand it.

I see a lot of people leaving you comments, asking you questions, but you never respond to them. It seems kind of sad. I know these people are desperate and hope to find the answers in you, but you don't even acknowledge them. Maybe you answer them when they come to your blog, at least that's what I hope you do.

I'm not putting you down, I'm way past that. Actually, these days I kind of like you. You've mellowed a bit, and I think you're an okay guy. I think you truly want to help people and that's an admirable quality.

I was just wondering why you never respond to anyone on the boards. Usually message boards are for leaving messages and then responding to comments. Just curious.

Take care.

All right Tony, I am in. I started by own blog - fatdaddyrantsblog.blogspot to find inspiration, support others and most of all exchange no BS thoughts about weight loss with other who have been or are on the same road I am on. My goals are set. Day 1 of 60. Fat Daddy Out.

Count me in.

I have yet to post any pictures on my blog so if I can just do that I've accomplished one challenge already :).

I'm determined to change myself in the next 60 days and I will succeed.

LOL anonymous people are funny. You have more energy than anyone I know. I wish you could bottle it and sell it. Who knows, maybe you can! I wouldn't put it past you to figure out a way. Anyway one thing's for sure - you and your family's lives will never be boring!

I'm just using my June pic if that's OK.

I'm aiming to get my guns farther along ... get farther along in my other goals.

I'm not really doing anything different than I already was ... except I gave up Chocolate Man recently. Sniff.

Anonymous sounds a bit jealous to me.

I'm trying to work up the courage to take the pictures and not immediately delete them. Then I have to get up the nerve to post them.

I love the idea of focusing on pictures rather than what the scale says.

You are an inspiration. Thank you!

I'm in, Tony. I like the idea of making a change, not just that seemingly unattainable one, of getting to the perfect weight. I can make a change.

Count me in. I'm pretty excited. I needed a good jumping point and I love your 'don't talk about it, do something about it' attitude. Will you be posting more rules? I love reading your posts. You're so motivating, but I'm excited to finally get out from under the salad truck and do something.

Thanks so much for the inspiration!

I LOVE that you are talking about *showing* and not *telling*... that's where we so often fall apart; we say we'll do something and then we don't follow through. It makes sense to DO the thing and then put it out there.

I'm going to write down some goals tonight.

Ok Tony, you've motivated me to put it out there. I took my "Before" pictures and can't wait to see the "After." Thanks for being such an inspiration. Here are my pictures: http://finallyfiguringitout.blogspot.com/2009/06/before-missouri-60-photos.html

I'm in!! I have found such inspiration on your blog and especially from your pictures. I have made my first round of weight loss goals (making "normal" BMI) but want to keep going, getting really fit. I am inspired to do that!
I just was about to take pics and did some posing in the mirror. Noticed I can "lose" 20 lbs just by exhaling and standing up straight! HA!

Will be posting pics this week.

Tony,
I recently found your blog and tonight I have finished reading through the whole thing. First off, let me say that your story is incredible. Second, YOU ROCK!

I am also an all or nothing type of person which is why I now weigh over 300 lbs. I have struggled with my weight forever it seems. I look back now and realize that I was not overweight in high school, but at the time no one could have convinced me of that.

I am up for your challenge and would like to be added to your blog roll.
Thanks for sharing your story!
Karina

hmmm I may have to jump in on this one. I haven't been spending much time in blogland recently because of some big life changes. This is exactly the time I need a challenge like this because a new chapter has begun in my life and I need to start it out on a positive note and really gain some good habits in my new home and job and life.

Doooit!
